Located at the entrance of Taiping Road and Wenxiang Street , Bao Shan Temple is a building with 5 stories. The front gate is a pavilion with four pillars and three entrances and three chambers. It walls on both left and right sides are connected together. Its pointed shape style yellow roof is decorated with coiled dragon in the middle. Meanwhile, at the end of the ridge, there is a carp pattern decoration. On the square pillar base, there are white walls supported by pillars. The four sides of the base are pasted with granite plate. The red main and side gates, and window grill represent grandiosity. On the side gates, two scrolls are paste on them. They read: "Mercy" and "Give up Happiness". On the wall, the windows are barred with cylindrical tiles. In addition, under the roof on Taiping Road, there is an arch at both the front and back of it.
The architecture has 5 floors above and two floors below ground. Basically speaking, Bao Shen Temple's layout is consisted of two halls, two chambers, and two corridors, with its two chambers and two hallways extending forward in the gesture of open-arm. However, Bao Shen Temple is not a lodge, it has only the front and back hall. There are 5 floors in the front hall. On the fifth floor, there is an interlayer roof, with tigers in dragon's bodies as decoration. As to the upward bending roofs and the roof tips, there are fairies with beast shaped bodies as decoration. However, the number of these artifacts is uneven. Under the roof, there are columns and pillars. Between the 5 th and 6 th pillars, there are bird shape ornaments. The chambers on both sides have four levels, with red bricks paving as decoration for outer wall. Meanwhile, the pillars are paved with washed stones. |
