Long known as Taiwan's "culture city", Taichung is dotted with excellent cultural attractions, venues, institutions and events. These include some of Taiwan's finest museums, temples, art galleries, and cultural/historical sites. Most of these attractions focus on local culture, but there are also regular visiting events and attractions from abroad. In addition, the city's concert halls regularly host cultural events, from Chinese and Western classical music concerts to plays and operas.
