Cycling Volunteers Deliver Food for the Elderly before Christmas
Cycling Volunteers Deliver Food for the Elderly before Christmas
The Glen D. Graber Foundation founded a cycling food delivery campaign for the elderly citizens of Taichung City on December 19. The Taichung City Government sponsored the campaign. Around 150 cycling volunteers joined the charity activity. The Mayor said that he was moved and impressed by the cycling riders and he appreciated their devotion to the senior citizens living alone.

Jason Hu, mayor of Taichung City, said that like the weather, the economy was up and down; he felt that compassion for the senior citizens was always full. He appreciated the volunteers because they made the senior citizens happy. Also, he said that he was faithful that our future will be brighter because so many people echoed the charity event and also invited their friends, families and kids to join. Especially, the weather was chill but the volunteers were still passionate to join the charity activity.

According to the Glen D. Graber Foundation, there were 3 routes for the Food Delivery Campaign, which included “family oriented”, “leisure” and “challenging”. In the campaign, the food delivery vehicles were replaced by bicycles instead of cars. The volunteer riders have to take care of the traffic and find the delivery destination on the map to deliver food to the senior citizens and send them Christmas greetings. All of the riders were moved and happy to join the activity.

Quoted the Glen D. Graber Foundation, the volunteers delivered food to 323 senior citizens. The target was 300 volunteers but due to schedule conflicts with other campaigns some registered volunteers canceled. However, the 150 volunteers still echoed the campaign in the chill weather and sowed the seeds of love to the society.
